Stanford 85, Arizona State 65: Freshman Chasson Randle scored 27 of his career-high 30 points in the first half and the Cardinal rolled in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament.

Randle reached his season high of 24 points with two minutes left in the first half and seventh-seeded Stanford (21-10) led by 20 at halftime.

The Cardinal will meet No. 2 seed California in Thursday's quarterfinals.

Chanse Creekmur scored 13 points and Jordan Bachynski added 11 for No. 10 seed Arizona State (10-21), which was coming off a surprising 87-80 victory over rival Arizona on Sunday.

Stanford made seven of its first 10 3-point attempts and was 10 of 19 (52.6 percent) overall. Randle, who became the 14th player in league history to reach 30 points in a conference tournament game, was 7 of 11 shooting, including 6 of 8 from beyond the arc.

Arizona State lost its fifth straight game to Stanford and fell to 1-9 in Pac-12 tournament first-round games since 2002. The Sun Devils shot 40 percent from the field, while Stanford was at 47.3 percent (26 of 55).

GAME NOTEBOOK: Stanford and California split two games during the regular season, with Stanford winning 75-70 on Sunday. … Trent Lockett, Arizona State’s top scorer, picked up his second foul less than five minutes into the first half and finished with six points on 3 of 8 shooting. … Randle’s 27 first-half points broke the Pac-12 tournament single-half scoring record of 25, set by Klay Thompson last year. … The Cardinal’s 50-point first half was their second-highest scoring half of the season. ... Stanford improved to 15-0 when scoring at least 70 points. ... Stanford's Aaron Bright had 11 points, including three 3-pointers.
