Texas 71, Iowa State 65: J'Covan Brown's conventional three-point play in the final minute gave Texas the lead for good, and the Longhorns advanced to the Big 12 tournament semifinals with a win that might have secured their 14th consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament.

The sixth-seeded Longhorns advance to face No. 2 seed Missouri at 10 p.m. Friday at Kansas City.

The Longhorns (20-12) shot 26.3 percent in the first half and allowed the Cyclones to reel off the first seven points of the second half for a 36-25 lead.

They rallied to take the lead with a 26-8 run and led by as many as seven, but didn't put the Cyclones away until Brown drove the lane for the last of his game-high 23 points.

Texas also got the steady play it needed out of freshman point guard Myck Kabongo, who had 11 points and five assists and did not commit a turnover.

Royce White had 17 points and 10 rebounds to pace Iowa State (22-10), which is still considered a lock for an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.

The Longhorns' hopes of an at-large bid were also aided when fellow bubble teams Northwestern and Washington lost in their conference tournaments Thursday.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Texas has won 20 or more games in 13 consecutive seasons. … White picked up his fourth foul with 4:22 left and scored only two points after that. … The Cyclones have lost their last seven conference tournament games dating to 2005, and they've never won at Sprint Center, where they're 0-4.
