Georgia sank a dozen 3-pointers and edged Notre Dame 61-57 for third place in the CBE Classic on Tuesday.

It was 53-53 with 3:45 left when Georgia freshman Kentavious Caldwell-Pope drilled his fourth 3-pointer to end an 8-0 Irish run.

The Bulldogs (4-1) came into the game shooting 23.3 percent from beyond the arc, but nailed 12-of-26 on Tuesday.

Caldwell-Pope hit 4-of-9 and finished with 16 points, hitting double digits for the fifth time in as many games.

Forward Donte Williams keyed Georgia’s strong defensive effort with six rebounds, three blocks and two steals.

The Irish (4-2) lost despite outscoring Georgia 21-5 at the foul line. Senior forward Tim Abromaitis went 0-for-8 on 3-pointers and was held to six points on 1-for-12 shooting. Guard Jerian Grant led Notre Dame with 20.

Georgia notched its first win in three tries against Notre Dame, avenging an 89-83 loss in last season’s Old Spice Classic.
