Marquette 83, Georgetown 69: Jae Crowder stated his case for Big East Player of the Year honors and No. 7 Marquette wrapped up second place in the conference with a comfortable Senior Day victory over No. 12 Georgetown.

Crowder finished his final home game with 26 points, 14 rebounds and five steals for the Golden Eagles (25-6, 14-4), who held the visitors to 33 percent shooting in the first half while building a 39-29 lead. The Hoyas (22-7, 12-6), who lost out on a double bye in the Big East Tournament, could get no closer than eight in the final 20 minutes.

Marquette made a living at the foul line all day long, making 14 of 15 from the line in the first half en route to a 33-for-45 effort. Crowder led the way by making 10 of his 12 attempts, while Vander Blue was 7 for 9. The two teams committed a combined 48 fouls, with Georgetown responsible for 29 of those.

The other Marquette senior, Darius Johnson-Odom, scored 17 points, falling just short in his bid to pass West Virginia's Kevin Jones for the Big East scoring title. The Golden Eagles scored 24 points off 15 Georgetown turnovers and outscored the Hoyas in the paint, 40-30.

Otto Porter and Hollis Thompson each scored 19 points in defeat.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Georgetown will be the No. 5 seed in next week's conference tourney, losing a tiebreak for the No. 4 spot to Cincinnati ... Marquette had lost three straight Senior Day games ... The Golden Eagles' second-place league finish is their best since joining the Big East in 2005-06 ... The 83 points were the most allowed by Georgetown in regulation this season.
