WEST VIRGINIA 92, DEPAUL 75: Darryl Bryant scored 15 of his game-high 28 points in the first half as host West Virginia defeated DePaul for the seventh straight time.

Bryant, a senior, topped the 20-point mark for the second consecutive game for the Mountaineers (18-12, 8-9 Big East), who moved into a tie with Seton Hall for eighth place in the conference standings.

West Virginia had struggled to close out games, blowing six second-half leads, but this time, the Mountaineers had no trouble. West Virginia led 47-31 at halftime and maintained a double-digit margin the rest of the way en route to just their second victory in their last six games.

Kevin Jones finished with 22 points and 16 rebounds and Jabarie Hinds added 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting for West Virginia, which could probably use a few more wins to ensure entry into the 68-team NCAA Tournament field.

DePaul (11-18, 2-15), meanwhile, virtually solidified its spot at the bottom of the conference standings for the fourth straight season.

Cleveland Melvin had 21 points and eight rebounds and Brandon Young added 21 points for DePaul, which shot 43.1 percent from the field, including 37.5 percent from 3-point range.

Moses Morgan finished with 15 points for the Blue Demons, who committed 26 fouls and were outrebounded 43-24.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bob Huggins improved to 32-8 all-time against DePaul … The Blue Demons fell to 1-7 in Big East road games … Melvin has scored in double figures in 27 of the Blue Demons’ 29 games.
