OREGON 74, OREGON STATE 73: Garrett Sim scored a season-high 25 points as the visiting Ducks handed the Beavers their fifth straight loss.

Olu Ashaolu had 16 points and eight rebounds, Devoe Joseph also scored 16 points and E.J. Singler added 13 as Oregon (20-8, 11-5 Pac-12) remained in the running for one of the four first-round byes in the Pac-12 tournament.

Ahmad Starks scored 18 points, Angus Brandt had 16 and Jared Cunningham tallied 13 for Oregon State (15-13, 5-11).

The Ducks have won 20 games in back-to-back seasons for just the third time in program history, but had to hold off a frantic rally by the Beavers.

Oregon led 71-60 after Joseph’s basket with 3:43 to play, but the Beavers answered with an 11-2 run to pull within 73-71 on Devon Collier’s hoop with 41.5 seconds left.

Ashaolu hit one of two free throws with 9.9 seconds left and Oregon State’s Challe Barton missed a tying 3-pointer attempt with three seconds left. Cunningham tipped in the rebound and Oregon ran out the clock.

Sim hit 10 of 14 field-goal attempts and had four 3-point baskets.

Brandt hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give Oregon State a 46-42 lead with 15:25 remaining. Oregon responded with a 17-5 surge to take a 59-51 lead on Singler’s basket with nine minutes remaining.

Oregon led 33-32 at halftime after Ashaolu caught a baseball pass from Tyrone Nared and hit a last-second turnaround jumper.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The 20-point outing was Sim’s fourth of the season … Collier left midway through the first half with an injury to his left knee but returned in the second half … Ducks center Tony Woods had one block to set a school season record of 43, surpassing Blair Rasmussen (42 in 1983-84) … Brandt matched his career-high with three 3-pointers.
