PROVIDENCE 73, DEPAUL 71: LaDontae Henton buried a jumper with three seconds left and scored 17 of his 24 points in the second half as the visiting Friars earned their first Big East road win in over two years.

Bryce Cotton added 19 points and Vincent Council collected 14 points and 11 assists for Providence (14-15, 3-13 Big East), which had not won in conference on the road since Jan. 14, 2010, also at DePaul.

Coming out of a timeout, the Friars drained the shot clock all the way down before Council hit Henton with a sharp pass for the game winner.

Cotton gave the Friars the lead and kicked off a 14-2 burst with a transition layup that made it 48-47 with 14:16 left. Henton, who also pulled down 15 rebounds, scored twice during the run and Cotton capped it with a 3-pointer to make it 60-49 with 9:37 remaining.

Providence led, 71-64, after Henton’s jumper with 2:28 to play, when the Blue Demons made one last run. Brandon Young scored five straight points and Jamie Crockett knotted it at 71-71 with a pair of free throws.

DePaul (11-17, 2-14) now sits alone in last place in the Big East.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Blue Demons star Cleveland Melvin was held to 10 points on 5-of-15 shooting … DePaul has lost eight in a row … Providence, which had a 23-16 advantage in free throw attempts and a 42-35 edge on the boards, snapped a five-game slide.
