COLORADO STATE 71, NO. 21 NEW MEXICO 63:
Pierce Hornung had 13 points and 15 rebounds and the Rams clamped down on defense to upset the Lobos for their 12th straight victory at home.

Dorian Green scored 17 points for Colorado State (17-9, 6-5 Mountain West), which held New Mexico without a field goal for 7:23 in the second half and avenged an 85-52 loss to the Lobos on Jan. 25.

Kendall Williams scored 16 points but was 3 for 13 from the field, and reigning MWC Player of the Week Drew Gordon had 13 points and six rebounds for New Mexico (22-5, 8-3), which had its seven-game winning streak snapped.

The Rams went on a 9-0 run early in the second half to take a 43-36 lead. Wes Eikmeier (11 points) finished the spurt with a pair of 3-pointers, including the 100th of his career.

New Mexico fought back to tie the game at 46 on Gordon’s basket, but the Lobos wouldn’t make another field goal until Gordon converted with 3:22 left to cut Colorado State’s lead to 60-54.

The Rams led by as many as seven in the first half before settling for a 30-29 advantage at intermission.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Gordon had 44 points and 37 rebounds in two games last week, and entered the game sixth in the nation in rebounding at 11.1 per game. … The game did not have a double-digit scorer until Williams made a free throw with 7:29 to go. … The Rams were 20 for 23 from the free throw line.
