NO. 11 FLORIDA 63, AUBURN 47: Kenny Boynton tied a career high with six 3-pointers, scoring 20 points as the host Gators pulled away in the second half.

The victory moves second-place Florida (22-6, 10-3 SEC) within 2½ games of first-place Kentucky in the SEC, pending the top-ranked Wildcats’ game later Tuesday at Mississippi State.

Boynton shot 7-for-11 from the field and finished 6-for-9 from 3-point range.

The Tigers (14-13, 4-9 SEC) held a 37-36 edge following Frankie Sullivan’s 3-pointer six minutes into the second half.

The Gators finally broke free at the offensive end, using a 15-2 run across the next seven minutes to build a 12-point lead.

Bradley Beal scored seven points during the run, including a jumper making it 51-39 Florida with 6:51 remaining. Beal finished with 13 points and Erving Walker added 13 points.

Adrian Forbes scored 11 points to lead Auburn, which lost for the sixth time in eight games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Boynton has hit six 3-pointers five previous times, the last on Jan. 3 against UAB. … Three nights after scoring 53 points in the first half against Arkansas, the Gators mustered just 27 points in the opening 20 minutes. … Auburn closed the opening half on a 7-0 run, taking a 30-27 halftime lead on Chris Denson’s layup two seconds before intermission. … The Gators have won 14 of their past 15 games against the Tigers.
