Arizona 70, Utah 61: Nick Johnson scored 18 points and hit the tiebreaking 3-pointer as host Arizona overcame a 12-point, second-half deficit to stave off Utah’s upset attempt.

Kyle Fogg scored 17 points and Brendon Lavender hit four second-half 3-pointers as Arizona (18-8, 9-4) won its fourth straight game.

Cedric Martin and Jason Washburn scored 15 points apiece for Utah (5-20, 2-11), which has lost six straight games and 12 of its last 13.

Johnson’s 3-pointer with 1:24 to play gave Arizona the lead for good and was part of a game-ending 12-0 run. Utah failed to score after Washburn’s basket put the Utes ahead 61-58 with 5:42 remaining.

Arizona trailed by 12 points with under 16 minutes to play before Lavender hit three 3-pointers during a 15-0 run that gave Arizona its first lead of the game at 46-43 with 12:06 remaining.

Solomon Hill scored 14 points and Lavender had 12 for the Wildcats.

Utah dominated the first 24 minutes of the game and had a 10-point lead before the game was even five minutes old. The Utes led 17-5 before Fogg hit back-to-back 3-pointers during an 8-0 Arizona run.

Utah then rattled off nine straight points to take a 26-13 lead after a 3-pointer by Dijon Farr with 6:45 left in the half. The Utes led 33-25 at halftime.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Arizona had two four-point plays in a 3 1/2-minute span of the first half – first by Fogg and then by Johnson … Utah led on the road at halftime for the first time this season … Fogg didn’t start for the first time this season as punishment for being late for a team walk-through … The Wildcats were just 1-of-10 shooting over the first nine minutes.
