GONZAGA 73, SAINT MARY’S 59: Kevin Pangos made 5 of 6 3-pointers and scored 27 points to lead Gonzaga over No. 13 St. Mary’s, handing the Gaels their first loss of the season in the West Coast Conference.

Pangos and fellow freshman guard Gary Bell Jr. broke the game open midway through the second half. A layup by Pangos put the Bulldogs up 49-45with 10:45 to play. A 3-pointer by Pangos and one by Bell with 7:09 left put Gonzaga (19-4, 9-2 WCC) up 59-49. The Bulldogs made 28 of 53 (52.8 percent) and7 of 15 from 3-point range (46.7 percent). Bell finished with 12 points.

Inside, Gonzaga’s Elias Harris kept the pressure on with aggressive attacks on the basket, finishing with 10 points and team leading 10 rebounds. The Bulldogs' Robert Sacre dominated the low post, finishing with 12 points and nine rebounds. Gonzaga outrebounded the Gaels 40-26 overall and 14-9 on the offensive boards.

The loss snapped a 12-game win streak for Saint Mary’s (22-3, 11-1). Matthew Dellavedova led Saint Mary’s with 20 points.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Saint Mary’s Rob Jones and Stephen Holt combined for just 1-of-9 shooting for 3 points in the first half. … Gonzaga held Saint Mary’s to just 5-of-21 3-pointers (23.8 percent) and just 3 of 14 (21.4 percent) from beyond the arc in the second half. … The Gaels Stephen Holt entered the game averaging 11.2 points per game, but was held scoreless against Gonzaga.
