John Jenkins scored 18 points and Vanderbilt closed the game with a 15-6 run to beat Georgia 77-66 Saturday in Nashville.

Jenkins, the Southeastern Conference’s leading scorer at 19.9 points, shot just 3 for 12 from the field. But the Commodores (13-4, 3-0 SEC) got 16 points from Jeffery Taylor and 13 points from Lance Goulbourne to win their seventh in a row and remain unbeaten in conference play.

Vanderbilt led by six points early in the second half before the Bulldogs rallied, taking a 45-44 lead on Kentavious Caldwell-Pope’s 3-pointer with 13:53 to go. The Commodores scored nine of the next 11 points, taking a 53-47 lead on Rod Odom’s3-pointer with 9:20 remaining.

The Bulldogs (9-8, 0-3) made a final push, pulling within 62-60 on Vincent Williams’ 3-pointer with 4:41 remaining. But Vanderbilt scored 15 of the game’s final 21 points.

Caldwell-Pope led Georgia with 19 points. Gerald Robinson added 15 points.

The Commodores travel to Alabama Thursday while Georgia hosts Tennessee Wednesday.
