Moe Harkless tipped in a rebound as the clock expired to give St. John’s a 57-55 win over Cincinnati at Fifth Third Arena.

St. John’s (8-7), still playing without head coach Steve Lavin, who is recovering from prostate surgery, ended a two-game slide and leads the all-time series with the Bearcats 9-7.

Cincinnati (12-4) had its seven-game winning streak snapped with the loss.

Harkless got his fingers on a missed floater from D'Angelo Harrison for the winning tip-in to give the Johnnies their first road win of the season. He finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds while Harrison led the Red Storm with 18 points.

Harrison knocked down two free throws to put the Red Storm up by three points with just 18 seconds remaining in the game, but Cincinnati freshman Jeremiah Davis answered with a deep 3-pointer from the corner to tie the game with three seconds on the clock.

The Bearcats, who led 25-22 at the break, gave up the lead after a dry spell to open the second half and was without a field goal for nearly a seven-minute stretch spanning both halves.

The Johnnies took advantage of that offensive skid, posting an 11-3 run early into the second half to grab a 15-point lead midway through the period. The Red Storm wouldn’t give it back, finishing the second half shooting 48 percent from the floor.

Cincinnati, which shot 47 percent during its seven-game winning streak, fired at just 26.3 percent against St. John’s. The Bearcats, who came into Saturday as the top 3-point shooting team in the Big East, hit just 7 of 32 attempts from beyond the arc.

Sean Kilpatrick led Cincinnati with 21 points while forward Yancy Gates chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
