When: 1:00 PM ET, Saturday, December 31, 2011
Where: Kohl Center, Madison, Wisconsin
Officials: # Ed Corbett, # Brian Dorsey, # Ted Valentine

Aaron White came off the bench to score a team-high 18 points as Iowa pulled off a stunning 72-65 upset over No. 11 Wisconsin Saturday at Kohl Center.

Bryce Cartwright finished with 17 points and Melsahn Basabe added 14 for the Hawkeyes (9-6, 1-1 Big Ten), who defeated a ranked opponent for just the second time in their last 27 tries. It was Iowa’s first win against the Badgers (12-3, 1-1 Big Ten) since a 73-69 overtime victory in 2009, a span of three games.

After being tied at 31 at halftime, Iowa took its first lead of the second half at 44-42 on a pair of Basabe free throws with 12:27 left. From there, the Hawkeyes used a 10-4 run to extend the lead to eight, and by the 3:35 mark, the advantage had swelled to 64-52.

Wisconsin, led by Jordan Taylor and Jared Berggren, pulled within 68-65 with 45 seconds remaining, but that’s as close as they got. Taylor finished with a team-high 17 points and Berggren added 12 for the Badgers, whose six-game win streak came to an end.

The Badgers shot 34 percent, including a 3-of-28 effort from 3-point range. The loss was Wisconsin’s first at home since falling to Marquette 61-54 on Dec. 3, and just its 13th in 168 games under head coach Bo Ryan.

With the win, Iowa evened its all-time series with the Badgers at 77. It was the Hawkeyes’ first win at Wisconsin since 2000.
