Kevin Olekaibe scored a career-high 30 points and hit the decisive 3-point basket as Fresno State notched a 68-65 victory over host Arizona State on Wednesday.

Olekaibe made his sixth 3-pointer of the contest with 32.3 seconds left to help Fresno State (5-8) rally from a 17-point deficit and break a four-game losing streak.

Keala King scored 22 points and Trent Lockett added 17 for Arizona State (4-8), which lost its third straight game.

Olekaibe’s late 3 gave Fresno State a two-point lead and Jonathan Wills hit one of two free throws with 10.3 seconds left. Arizona State’s Kyle Cain missed a game-tying 3-point attempt in the final seconds.

Cain scored on a three-point play with 38 seconds left to give Arizona State a 65-64 lead.

The Sun Devils led 38-21 after Jonathan Gilling hit a 3-pointer with 1:53 left in the first half. Fresno State tallied the final five points of the half and still trailed 42-30 with 17 minutes left before starting its comeback.

The Bulldogs outscored Arizona State 23-4 over a nine-minute span in the second half to turn a 12-point deficit into a 53-46 lead on Olekaibe’s 3-pointer with 7:51 remaining.

Arizona State rallied to tie the score at 59 on five straight points by King.

Fresno State shot 62.5 percent in the second half. Wills added 14 points for the Bulldogs.

The Sun Devils shot just 31.8 percent in the second half after shooting 57.7 percent in the first half.
