Guard D.J. Richardson scored 20 points and center Meyers Leonard had 18 as No. 22 Illinois stayed unbeaten with an 80-63 win over visiting Coppin State.

Leonard added 11 rebounds for the 10-0 Illini, off to their best start since opening 15-0 in the 2005-06 season.

Illinois led 38-30 at the break and pulled away late. The Illini shot 56 percent overall and made 10 of 22 from beyond the arc.

Senior guard Tony Gallo led Coppin State with 21 points, hitting 4 of 8 3-pointers.

The Eagles (3-5) have yet to beat a Division I opponent this season and are 0-4 all-time against Illinois.

Coppin State fell to 0-38 against ranked foes since its 78-65 upset of No. 2 seed South Carolina in the first round of the 1997 NCAA tournament.
