Where: Verizon Center, Washington, District of Columbia
Officials: # Chris Beaver, # Evon Burroughs, # Gary Prager

Hollis Thompson scored 20 points, knocked down a career-high six three-pointers and Georgetown had no problem with NJIT 84-44 at the Verizon Center on Saturday.

The Hoyas, who won their fifth consecutive game, led 38-28 with one minute left in the first half, but a long run put the game out of reach. Starting with Mikael Hopkins’s field goal late in the first, Georgetown (7-1) out-scored NJIT (3-4) 29-4 over a 12-minute span.

The Hoyas defense was excellent as well as the visiting Highlanders didn’t score their first points of the second half until the 13:44 mark, and didn’t get their first field goal of the half until 10:55 remained.

Georgetown built its largest lead of the first half at 25-10 on a three-pointer by Jason Clark, one of seven three-pointers made by the Hoyas in the first 20 minutes. NJIT got the deficit back into single digits at 30-21 on a Ryan Woods three-pointer at the 4:35 mark. Woods, a junior guard making his first start of the season, scored a career-high 16 points to lead the Highlanders.
