LaceDarius Dunn became Baylor’s all-time leading scorer Tuesday, and the Bears shook off a sluggish start at home to defeat NAIA-school Wayland Baptist 64-50.

Dunn scored 17 points to lead the Bears (17-8, 6-5 Big 12), who only led by four points late in the first half. The senior guard has 2,196 career points, surpassing Terry Teagle’s former school mark of 2,189.

Baylor, which has won three of its past four, saw Wayland Baptist pull within 26-22 on Johnny Terra’s 3-pointer with 4:34 left in the first half. From there, the Bears closed the half with a 12-2 run. Perry Jones III scored the first eight points of the run, and A.J. Walton’s layup with nine seconds left sent Baylor into halftime with a 38-24 lead.

Josh Teague’s three-point play brought Wayland Baptist within 44-37 with 12:05 left. The Bears scored the next eight points to finally put the game away, taking a 52-37 lead on Walton’s layup with 7:38 to play.

Jones finished with 14 points for Baylor, and Quincy Acy added 10. Nathan Harbour led the Pioneers (8-18) with 12 points.
