Malcolm Lee tied the game at the end of regulation with a pair of free throws and hit two more to put UCLA ahead for good with six seconds left in overtime as the Bruins edged Washington State 58-54 in a Pac-10 Conference game Saturday.

Despite the win, UCLA finished in second place in the conference behind Arizona, which defeated Oregon earlier in the day.

The short-handed Cougars (19-11, 10-8 Pac-10) played without star forward Klay Thompson, the Pac-10’s leading scorer. Thompson was suspended by the team after he was cited by police for a misdemeanor marijuana charge after Thursday’s win over USC. Washington State was also without guard Reggie Moore (ankle).

The Bruins (22-9, 13-5 Pac-10) rallied from 13 points down at halftime to take a 43-39 lead with 7:22 to play, but the Bruins didn’t score again until Tyler Honeycutt hit a 3-pointer with 49 seconds to play. The field goal cut the Bruins' deficit to 47-46, and UCLA later tied the game on a pair of free throws by Lee with eight seconds to go. Washington State had a chance to win it, but Faisal Aden missed a 3-pointer with a second left.

Reeves Nelson led UCLA 23 points and eight rebounds. Brock Motum led the Cougars with 15 points.
