Freshman Harrison Barnes hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key with 3.1 seconds to go, allowing No. 13 North Carolina to escape with a 72-70 victory at Florida State on Wednesday night.

The Tar Heels (23-6, 13-2 ACC) had a 67-60 lead with 3:59 remaining before Florida State put together a furious rally, taking a 70-69 lead with 18.2 seconds left on a pair of Derwin Kitchen free throws. The Seminoles had an opportunity to win the game after Barnes' shot at the other end, but Kitchen stepped out of bounds while rushing upcourt.

John Henson led North Carolina with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Barnes finished with 18 points. Kitchen led Florida State (20-9, 10-5) with 13 points. The Seminoles were outrebounded by a 33-24 margin and hit just 7-of-13 free throws on the night.

North Carolina will host No. 4 Duke on Saturday, with the winner claiming the ACC title outright.
