Diante Garrett scored 17 points and hit the go-ahead layup in overtime as Iowa State snapped a 10-game Big 12 Conference losing streak with an 83-82 win over Nebraska in Ames, Iowa on Saturday afternoon. The loss dealt the Cornhuskers a big blow as they make a late season push at NCAA at-large consideration.

Garrett’s basket with 1:06 remaining in the extra session gave Iowa State (15-14, 2-12 Big 12) an 81-79 lead, and the Cyclones held on despite the heroics of Lance Jeter, who had career highs of 27 points and 10 rebounds in a losing effort for Nebraska (18-10, 6-8).

Jeter hit a 3-pointer with 3.4 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime, as he scored 18 of his points after the first half.

Iowa State has now beaten Nebraska five straight times at Hilton Coliseum in what could be the Cornhuskers' final trip ever to Ames. Nebraska will be joining the Big Ten next season.

Scott Christopherson added 14 points for Iowa State, while Jamie Vanderbeken, who missed the previous three games with an ankle injury, and Melvin Ejim, each chipped in 13. Jake Anderson was the fifth Cyclone in double digits with 10. Garrett added nine assists and five rebounds.

The teams combined for 22 3-pointers in 43 attempts, including a season-high 12 by Nebraska. Jorge Brian Diaz collected his second double-double of the season for Nebraska with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
