Jorge Gutierrez scored a career-high 34 points and Brandon Smith hit a 3-pointer with 14 seconds left in overtime to lift California to 76-72 victory over visiting UCLA on Sunday.

Gutierrez scored nine of the Golden Bears’ 16 points in the overtime and assisted on Smith’s 3-pointer.

Malcolm Lee led UCLA (19-8, 10-4 Pac-10) with 19 points, including a dramatic 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime. The Bruins, who rallied from a 13-point deficit, had their six-game winning streak snapped, and fell two games behind first-place Arizona.

California (14-13, 7-8) snapped a 68-68 tie with 1:19 to play and scored six of the next eight points to end a four-game losing streak.

Cal held UCLA to a season-low 18 points in the first half and led by 11 at the break. The game was tied at 60 after regulation.

Allen Crabbe returned to the Cal lineup after missing the past two games with a concussion and scored eight points.
