Nolan Smith scored 28 points and added seven rebounds as No. 5 Duke put itself in position to climb the national rankings after routing Georgia Tech 79-57 at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Sunday night.

Kyle Singler added 15 points as Duke (25-2, 12-1 ACC) cruised to its sixth straight win to cap a week that saw the top four teams in the poll all suffer losses. Singler became the 21st player in the conference to score 1,000 points in regular-season play.

The Blue Devils closed the first half on a 9-0 run to take a 37-28 lead into the half. They then outscored the Yellow Jackets 24-8 to start the second half, effectively blowing the game open.

Georgia Tech (11-15, 3-9) got 13 points apiece from Maurice Miller and Iman Shumpert while Glen Rice Jr. finished with a dozen.
