Darryl Bryant scored a game-high 24 points to lead host West Virginia over No. 7 Notre Dame 72-58 Saturday.

Bryant made 4 of 7 from 3-point range, where the Mountaineers were 8-of-20 overall. Joe Mazzulla added 16 points, seven assists and five rebounds for the Mountaineers (17-9, 8-6 Big East), who trailed 31-28 early in the second half before taking control with a 17-4 run. Kevin Jones chipped in with 14 points and 10 rebounds for West Virginia, which improved to 11-2 at home.

Ben Hansbrough had 19 points and seven rebounds, and Carleton Scott added 11 points and 11 rebounds for Notre Dame (21-5, 10-4), which saw its seven-game win streak snapped. The Irish made just 8 of 27 from 3-point range and forced only four turnovers.

Neither team shot the ball well in the first half. Notre Dame made 11 of 31 from the field and West Virginia just 8 of 18. Hansbrough had nine points and six rebounds, as the Irish edged to a 27-26 halftime lead.
