Freshman Tim Hardaway Jr. scored a career-high 26 points and Michigan jumped out early and held on for a 73-69 home victory over Indiana Saturday.

Darius Morris added 15 points for Michigan (16-10, 6-7 Big Ten), which has enhanced its NCAA Tournament chances by winning five of its past six after a six-game slide earlier in the year.

Christian Watford, who returned after missing the past three contests with a broken hand, came off the bench and finished with 14 points for Indiana (12-14, 3-10), which fell to 0-9 on the road.

Hardaway Jr., the son of former NBA star Tim Hardaway, has been spearheading the Wolverines’ resurgence. Coming off his first career double-double, Hardaway Jr. was 9 of 11 from the floor and 4 of 6 from beyond the arc.

But it nearly wasn’t enough.

The Wolverines led 32-24 at the half and led by as many as 20 late in the second half but had to sweat it out after Indiana cut the lead to three on a jumper by Watford with 29 seconds left.

Michigan hung on as Zack Novak split a pair of free throws and Morris hit two more with 10 seconds remaining.
