Talor Battle scored 19 of his 21 points in the second half as Penn State snapped a 12-game losing streak to No. 15 Wisconsin and won for the third time in five games against a top-25 foe, 56-52, Saturday afternoon in State College, Pa.

Jeff Brooks added 12 points and a clutch 3-pointer, and Andrew Jones anchored the defense with 13 rebounds for the Lions (12-8, 5-4 Big Ten), who knocked off Michigan State and Illinois followed by last-second losses to Ohio State and Purdue.

Battle made 6 of 10 shots after the break and added five rebounds and three assists with no turnovers, as Penn State added to their NCAA Tournament resume.

Battle, the No. 2 scorer in the Big Ten at 21 points per game, and Brooks knocked down consecutive 3-pointers, and David Jackson added two free throws to give Penn State a 48-42 lead with 3:56 left.

A Battle drive and dish for an Andrew Jones layup provided a 50-44 edge with 1:21 left. About the only thing Battle did wrong in the second half was missing the front end of two 1-and-1s in the final 90 seconds.

Penn State also won with outstanding defense, holding Wisconsin to 42.3-percent shooting and two offensive rebounds in the second half.

Jon Leuer scored 18 points and Jordan Taylor added 16 for Wisconsin (15-5, 5-3 Big Ten).

Penn State got two 3-pointers and two driving layups by Battle over a seven-minute span as Penn State used a 16-4 run to take a 38-35 lead – their first lead of the game - with 10:54 left.
