Talor Battle snapped out of a shooting funk and scored 23 points as Penn State stopped visiting Iowa, 65-51, on Wednesday night at Bryce Jordan Center. Jeff Brooks added 22 points and knocked down four 3-pointers for the Nittany Lions, who were coming off last-second losses on the road to both Ohio State and Purdue.

Battle, who shot just 27 of 83 (.325), including 10 of 45 from beyond the arc, during the last five games, connected on 8 of 13 and extended his streak of consecutive games with a 3-pointer to 28 – the second longest active streak in the nation.

Iowa (8-12, 1-7) led by as many as 11 in the first half, but Penn State (11-8, 4-4 Big Ten) closed with a 10-0 run to take a 29-28 lead into the break.

The Nittany Lions opened the second half on an 11-5 run, getting a short jumper and a tip by Andrew Jones, to take a 40-33 edge. The Hawkeyes closed within three with 12:19 left when Battle drained a straight-away 3-pointer from five feet beyond the line. About 3 ½ minutes later, the 6-0 guard drove the baseline, hit a floater, and converted a three-point play to push the lead back to nine. Battle converted another three-point play, taking a backdoor feed from Tim Frazier on the right baseline, and converting the layup to provide a 68-58 lead with 2 ½ minutes left.

Brooks finished off Iowa with a 3-pointer from the right corner and a slam dunk.

Jarryd Cole scored 11 points and Matt Gatens added 10 for the Hawkeyes (8-12, 1-7), who shot 37.3 percent (19 of 51).
