Austin Freeman’s 25 points and nine rebounds helped 19th-ranked Georgetown to a 74-65 win over Rutgers Saturday in Piscataway, N.J.

Freeman, who also had four assists, was one of three Georgetown players in double figures. Chris Wright chipped in 15 points, and Jason Clark had 13. The Hoyas (13-5, 2-4 Big East) were 23-of-48 (47.9 percent) from the field, including 11-of-22 (50 percent) from 3-point range.

Rutgers (10-7, 1-4 Big East) briefly threatened Georgetown in the first half, coming within two points at 18-16 with 6:23 to go. Georgetown recovered to take a 31-25 halftime lead. Rutgers trailed 47-37 midway through the second half before scoring six unanswered points, but the Scarlet Knights couldn’t make up any more ground.

Rutgers shot 25-of-58 (43.1 percent) from the field. Gilvydas Buruta led with 14 points and six rebounds. Jonathan Mitchell scored 13 points, and James Beatty added 12 points.
