Jeremy Green and Dwight Powell provided the offense, and Stanford used a 21-9 second-half run to pull away, beating California 82-68 on Sunday at home in the Pac 10 opener for both teams. Green led the Cardinal (8-4) with 21 points and Powell came off the bench to score 20 as Stanford shot 57.4 percent from the field to win its second game in a row.

Leading 38-35 early in the second half, the Cardinal used an 8-2 surge to build a 46-37 lead on two Jeremy Green free throws with 15:05 left. The Golden Bears (7-6) pulled within 48-43 on Markhuri Sanders-Frison’s basket with 13:41 left, but the Cardinal scored 21 of the next 30 points.

Anthony Brown scored nine of his 11 points during the run, and Dwight Powell added six points, his basket making it 69-52 with 5:55 to go. Harper Kemp led the Golden Bears with 16 points. Gary Franklin scored 15 points.

Stanford travels to Arizona State on Thursday. California plays Thursday at Arizona
