Erik Green finished with 17 points and Jeff Allen added 14 points and 12 rebounds as Virginia Tech crushed Mount St. Mary’s, 99-34, on Sunday.

Tyrone Garland added 16 off the bench for the Hokies (9-4), who forced 25 turnovers while dominating in all phases.

This one was over very early on as Virginia Tech jumped out to a 17-4 lead in the first eight minutes and kept the pedal down, extending it to 50-11 at the half. The Hokies shot 68 percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes while allowing the Mountaineers to hit only 4-of-24 shots. Mount St. Mary’s (3-12) could not help itself from the line, either, hitting only 2-of-7 free throws. Green led the way with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting while Malcolm Delaney added 10 on 4-of-5.

The second half was no different, with Virginia Tech outscoring Mount St. Mary’s 49-23 after the break.

The Hokies dive into the ACC next weekend by hosting Florida State before visiting North Carolina five days later.
