Sterling Carter scored 19 points and Seattle ended a seven-game road losing streak with a shocking 59-53 victory over slumping Virginia Wednesday.

Aaron Broussard added 15 points for the Pilots (5-11), who shot 50 percent (24 of 48) and led wire-to-wire after opening the game on a 12-4 run.

The Cavaliers (8-4) shot a mere 30.8 percent – including 2 of 19 from beyond the arc - continuing their trend of playing down to the competition. Virginia needed a last-second layup to hold off Norfolk State Monday, drawing the ire of second-year coach Tony Bennett.

He'll be even angrier after this effort.

The Cavaliers only hung around because they were in the double bonus with over five minutes to play. Freshman K.T. Harrell had 16 points for Virginia, which made six more free throws (19) than the Pilots attempted (13).

Broussard led the way with 10 points as Seattle shot 50 percent (13 of 26) in the opening half en route to a 30-23 advantage. Virginia, meanwhile, shot just 32 percent (8 of 25) in the first half - including 0 of 6 from beyond the arc.
