Calvin Newell scored 17 points and Oklahoma got an early lead and never let go of it on a 66-53 victory over Sacramento State in a non-conference encounter Tuesday.

The Sooners (6-6) made only 11 field goals in the first half, but six of them were 3-pointers and the long-range shooting helped them open a 30-22 lead at the break. Newell then helped make sure Oklahoma kept its lead, scoring 11 of his points in the second half. Cade Davis scored 15 points for the Sooners, who have won three of their last four following a five-game losing skid.

Sultan Toles-Bey scored 21 points to lead Sacramento State, which has lost two straight and five of its last six games.

Toles Bay entered the game averaging a team-leading 12.6 points per game and was the only player to reach double figures for the Hornets, who committed 16 turnovers which led to 19 points for the Sooners.
