Malcolm Thomas had 18 points and 10 rebounds, and No. 10 San Diego State remained unbeaten with a dominant 90-64 victory over visiting UC Santa Barbara on Saturday.

The Aztecs (12-0), known as a second half team, had their best first half of the season and led 57-29 at halftime.

Billy White and Brian Carlwell scored 11 points apiece for San Diego State, which is one win from tying the record for longest winning streak in the 90-year history of the program.

Santa Barbara (5-4), which was coming off an upset victory over No. 22 UNLV, shot 25 of 64 (39.1 percent) from the field. Top scorers James Nunnally and Orlando Johnson scored 15 points apiece, and Jaime Serna added 10 for the Gauchos, who made 5 of 17 (29.4 percent) of their 3-pointers.

Starters Kawhi Leonard and Chase Tapley, who missed the Aztecs’ game Monday against Cal Poly because of illness, made their impact felt against the Gauchos. Leonard had 13 points and seven rebounds, while Tapley scored 12 points, including a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer.

San Diego State made was 12 for 24 on 3-pointers after going 0 for 18 against Cal Poly.

D.J. Gay scored all 12 of his points in the first half, when San Diego State shot 17 for 26 (65.4 percent) from the field, 7 for 12 (58.3 percent) on 3-pointers and a 9 for 9 from the free throw line.

The Gauchos never came closer than within 21 points in the second half.

The Aztecs face San Francisco in the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic on Tuesday.
