Mississippi State held Anatoly Bose in check and got big games from Ravern Johnson and Brian Bryant to post a 67-58 victory over Nicholls State in a non-conference matchup on Monday.

Bose entered the game averaging 25.4 points per game for the Colonels (4-5), but was limited to 17 on Monday as he was just 4-of-11 from the field.

Bose was just 1-of-8 from the arc and Nicholls state made just 5-of-23 3-pointers as a team.

While Bose had trouble finding his range, Johnson and Bryant had no such difficulty.

Johnson was 8-of-14 from the field and made 5-of-9 3-pointers. Bryant was 7-of-9 from the field and made both of his 3-pointers.

Johnson, who entered the game leading the Bulldogs (6-2) in scoring at 23.9 points, scored 18 of his points in the first half as Mississippi State opened up a 36-27 lead at the half.

Bryant’s output was a career high and helped the Bulldogs win their second straight.
