Corey Stokes carried the offense with 34 points on 11-of-15 shooting as No. 12 Villanova took down Big 5 foe Pennsylvania, 65-53, on Wednesday.

Antonio Pena added 16 points for the Wildcats (7-1), who take on another Big 5 school when they visit La Salle on Sunday.

After a pair of poor shooting efforts in a loss to Tennessee and a win over St. Joseph’s, coach Jay Wright switched up his lineup a bit against the Quakers, electing to bring senior guard Corey Fisher off the bench. The move did not do much for the struggling Fisher, who finished with four points on 1-of-6 shooting, but Stokes seemed to take off when placed in control.

Stokes scored 14 points and Pena added 10 as Villanova took a 30-23 lead into the break. The Wildcats took their biggest lead with 8:42 left in the game, 47-34, when Stokes buried his fifth 3-pointer.

Zack Rosen scored 20 points to lead Penn, which has to go on the road for its next five games.
