Florida State snapped a two-game losing streak Sunday, holding Hartford to just nine second-half points in a 60-38 home victory.

Despite 26 turnovers, the Seminoles enjoyed a huge advantage on the boards (outrebounding the Hawks 54-27) and at the free-throw line (hitting 13-of-22 compared to Hartford’s 2-of-4).

In its final game before a week off, the Seminoles (6-2) came in following consecutive losses to ranked teams (No. 16 Florida, No. 2 Ohio State). Hartford (2-6) started quickly, building an 11-4 lead on Joe Zeglinski’s 3-pointer with 13:56 left in the first half.

Down 24-17 with less than seven minutes left in the half, the Seminoles went on a 13-3 run. Michael Snaer gave the Seminoles a 28-27 lead on a 3-pointer with 1:22 left in the half, and Florida State led 30-29 at halftime. Up 32-31, the Seminoles used an 11-0 run to take control. Florida State held the Hawks scoreless for 8:52 during the run, opening up a 43-31 lead on Derwin Kitchen’s layup with 10:06 to play. In the second half, the Seminoles outscored Hartford 28-9.

Bernard James and Derwin Kitchen each finished with double-doubles for Florida State. James scored 11 points with 10 rebounds. Kitchen added 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Zeglinski scored nine points to pace Harvard. The Hawks shot just 21.5 percent from the field (14-of-65).
