Texas Tech outscored the Flames 53-41 in the second half. Part of that was a 14-2 run in the first four minutes of the second half, which the Red Raiders entered trailing by four. They never trailed again.

The Flames (2-3) jumped to an early 2-0 lead on a jumper by David Minaya before Texas Tech responded with a 3-pointer from Brad Reese. That gave the Red Raiders (3-1) their only lead of the first half.

Liberty went on an 18-10 run, giving the Flames a comfortable seven-point lead halfway through the first half. Texas Tech closed the gap to within four, 30-26, at halftime.
