Andre Stringer led the way with 17 points and Malcom White added 12 as Louisiana State took control in the second half and ran away from Tennessee-Martin, 79-56, on Thursday.

Aaron Dotson chipped in 13 points and Ralston Turner added 10 points for the Tigers (2-1), who knocked down 22-of-29 free-throw attempts to make up for a 3-of-17 effort from 3-point range.

Tennessee-Martin had it as close as 24-18 with 4:27 left in the first half before LSU ripped off a 12-1 run to end the opening period. Ralston hit a 3-pointer during the spurt and scored 10 in the half while Dotson added nine.

The Skyhawks did not do themselves many favors, hitting just 7-of-22 shots, including 1-of-9 from beyond the arc, in the first 20 minutes.

The Tigers opened the second half on a 13-2 run and doubled it up at 56-28 on Stringer’s 3-pointer with 11:51 left before cruising to the finish.

Reuben Clayton was the only Tennesse-Martin player to finish in double figures with 22 points.
