The No. 24 Wisconsin Badgers jumped out to a 9-0 lead and beat Prairie View A&M 99-55 in their season opener Sunday.

Jon Leuer, a 6-10 senior forward, led all scorers with 24 points as he nailed 4 of 5 from beyond the arc. Josh Gasser added 21 points and Jordan Taylor 20 for the host Badgers, who reached the second round of last season's NCAA tournament.

The Panthers, of the Southwestern Athletic Conference, fell to 0-2 despite 14 points from Trant Simpson and 10 from Brandon Webb.

Wisconsin shot 51.5 percent from the field and while holding Prairie View A&M to 42 percent shooting.
