For the 29th straight season, Duke walked away a winner in its home opener.

The No. 1 Blue Devils jumped out quickly and never looked back as they topped Princeton 97-60 in O’Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic tournament play Sunday at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C.

It was the 18th time in 19 meetings that Duke topped Princeton; the last Princeton victory came in 1981.

Mike Krzyzewski won his 796th game with the Blue Devils, and is also 31 wins away from 900 in his career.

Duke (2-0) went on a 10-2 run in the game’s first three minutes as five players finished in double figures.

Preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference candidate Nolan Smith, a 6-2 senior guard, led the way with 22 points and six assists. McDonald’s All-American Kyrie Irving, a 6-2 freshman guard, scored 17 points and had nine assists.

Princeton (1-2) was led by 16 points from Dan Mavraides and 14 points from Ian Hummer.
