Alabama got off to a fast start and then had no trouble keeping Florida A&M down in a 76-37 victory Friday.

The Crimson Tide (1-0) scored the first 11 points of the game over the opening eight minutes, and the Rattlers never recovered.

Florida A&M did its part to help Alabama get off to a fast start. The Rattlers missed their first eight shots and had five turnovers as the Crimson Tide rolled to its big early lead.

Alabama limited Florida A&M to 23 percent shooting (15 of 65), and the Rattlers were 2 of 21 from beyond the arc.

Tony Mitchell led five Alabama players in double figures with 14 points. JaMychal Green scored 12, Charvez Davis and Senario Hillman scored 11 apiece and Charles Hankerson added 10 for Alabama.

The Crimson Tide used their fast start to build a 34-17 lead at the half, and led by as many as 44 in the second half.

Amin Stevens led Florida A&M (0-1) with eight points, but was 3 of 11 from the field.
